What’s New in the Mobile Phone Industry?

Mobile telecommunications has become a massive industry, and it’s really no surprise. It seems that everywhere you look, someone or the other is spending time on their phone or tablet, either taking a call, sending a text or simply passing the time checking the headlines or playing a game with a friend.

latest mobile phones

In the last five years, we have seen the mobile phone mutate from a simple communication tool into a futuristic, all-in-one device that can access any information anywhere, at any time. We are truly living in the age that writers and film-makers were promising twenty or thirty years ago. Minus the flying cars, of course.

The more feature-intensive they become, the more invaluable they are to people. We are watching a generation of phones on the market today that perform all the tasks that would have needed an expensive computer ten years ago, and even more than that, they are performing these tasks while we are on the move.

The mobile phone has become such an integral part of life that it is difficult to imagine what it would be like without them. It is difficult to imagine not being able to find out what is happening in the world right now just by looking at your apple iphone, or taking a picture of that once in a lifetime moment using your Galaxy SIII.

It has become such a part of how we live our lives that people would consider themselves helpless without their Lumia 900. A great example is the function that you can find on any Lumia phone nowadays. If you hear a song that you love, you can hold your phone up to the speakers on your radio or TV and simply press the “listen” button under the search menu. The Lumia will compare the song against its database and find the song for you, even giving you a link to purchase that song online, should you desire.

And of course, there are apps like Shazam for iPhone which do the same on your Apple device.Things like this that were completely unheard of ten or twenty years ago, are now a well-established part of our lives, and it has changed the way we live.

Tablet computers have become especially popular in the last few years, thanks to the release of the iPad. Touted as being the middle child of the Apple family, in between the iPhone and the Macbook, it performs some of the functions of both, trading off some of one for a bit of the other.

The portability of it makes it a great accessory for any trip, and the sheer power means that you can create presentations, write documents or almost anything that you might need.

There is a much smaller, much more compact option that loses some of the functionality of the iPad. But because it’s that much smaller, it’s even easier to carry around and it can be just as useful, provided you aren’t looking for the full suite of office software.

The iPhone is first and foremost a phone, of course. But under the shell, there’s a whole host of other applications and gadgets that lend themselves to any kind of work. Dictation and sending of emails and text messages is quick and simple now thanks to Siri, and it’s even easier to keep up with all your friends since the iPhone 4s is fully integrated with twitter.

Nokia 808 PureView to be Released in US, Priced at $699

We’ve all heard about the famous Nokia 808 PureView, which is expected to make a revolution in the world of mobile phones and cameras with its 41MP sensor. Nokia’s new cameraphone was announced a couple of months ago, and soon it’ll start arriving in different markets. The US, for example, is going to get it very soon via Amazon Wireless, and the price for its unlocked version is already set at $699.

Nokia 808 PureView

Actually, the Nokia 808 PureView wasn’t planned to be brought to the US at all, but then Nokia and some American carriers changed their minds – thanks to the “popular demand” of the phone, even though it runs an almost dead platform – Symbian.

The 808 PureVew is one of the best Nokia phones at the moment, even cooler than the Lumia 900 in some sense, and thought it can’t beat the giants like the Samsung Galaxy S3, iPhone 4S or the LG Optimus LTE2, it can easily stand against some cameras… Surprised? Just have a look at these pics taken with the PureView and Canon EOS 5D Mark III, Olympus E-PL2 and the Apple iPhone 4S.

Well, as you can see from the pics above, the photos by the iPhone 4S are rather weak and blurry and can’t really be compared with the others. The Olimpus camera did a bit better than Apple’s smartphone, but still its photos can’t be compared with those taken with the other two.

As for the 808 PureView and the Canon EOS 5D Mark III, there was a tie, which is fantastic, since the Mark III is a professional camera that costs around $3,499, and Nokia’s cameraphone for only $699 can shoot similar photos… Not bad, right?

Samsung Galaxy S3 – Pick It or Kick It?

One of the most renowned brands in the world, Samsung has created its own market of cell phones and smart phones. Speed and power are the things which come under the smart phones category. Many other brands are also out there trying to create the best smart phones for people’s satisfaction which never ends because everybody has their own requirements. To stay ahead in this race, Samsung just announced its new creation Samsung Galaxy S3. To make your stay on this page worth it, I have explored the features and made it easy for you to either pick it or kick it.

Samsung Galaxy S3 - Features and Specs

Design and Display

Samsung Galaxy S3 - Design and Display

Talking about the looks of new Galaxy S3, it has some of the features from the other models of Galaxy line. I don’t know about others but I don’t like the ceramic body of Samsung Galaxy III. The looks actually are not up to the mark what the users expect from the company like Samsung. Maybe, the reason behind this could be that Galaxy S3 is the first smart phone designed by lawyers? Keeping the looks aside, let’s discuss about the features of the Smartphone.

Galaxy S3 can see, respond and listen to the user and work accordingly which is why it is said to be inspired by nature. It comes with 4.8 inch super AMOLED HD display with resolution of 1280×720 pixels, not the best available in the market of smart phones but its incredible. The phone is 133g in weight which is very light.

Platform and Interface

Samsung Galaxy S3 - Platform and Interface

It comes with Android’s new version 4.0 called the “Ice Cream Sandwich”, improved speed and functioning. A 1.4Ghz quad core processor is what powers to this smart phone. The inbuilt memory or RAM is 1GB which is very good and will work just fine but if you need to expand the memory then it can be expanded up to maximum of 64GB with a micro SD card.

Features of Samsung Galaxy S III

Camera: It comes with two cameras, an 8 MP of rear camera and 1.9 MP of front camera. Both cameras are great and take HD photos without delay in capturing. A ‘burst shot” function allows you to capture 20 photos instantly and an option called “best photo”chooses the best photos from all automatically. The 8 MP camera of Galaxy S3 gives 1080p resolution and 1.9 MP camera provides 720p which is very good for a front facing camera. Video recording is done in HD without any lag.

Samsung Galaxy S3 - Features

Pop up play: This feature will catch your eye for sure, allowing you to play a video anywhere on the screen. This lets you do multitasking while watching a video, so that you don’t have to start it again while surfing internet or any other task in between.

Smart Stay feature:  This feature is built in very smartly. With the help of the front camera, S3 can track your eyes when looking at the screen or not and turns the display off and on.

Voice recognition: We can’t say this is a new feature but Samsung says that it is very improved and smart. For example, you can even shut the alarm by just saying “snooze” and many more commands like this are added.

Wireless charging: For those who can’t leave their phones for a second, now you can charge your Galaxy S3 on wireless mode making you somewhat independent but you have to buy the wireless dock for charging your phone wirelessly.

Samsung Galaxy 3 Price in India

The all new Samsung Galaxy III will go on sale with 296 carriers in 145 countries and Samsung Galaxy S3 will be available from the next month in India and will cost around Rs. 38,000. It is quite highly priced than the other phone from the same series Samsung Galaxy S2. Samsung Galaxy S3 also surpassed HTC One X in terms of price which is considered better in terms of features and specs. iPhone 4S is however the most expensive Smartphone among the latest ones as it is available at Rs. 44,450.

Overall the features in Galaxy S3 are fantastic and it will be worth buying if everything works as Samsung has promised. The display, camera, interface and functioning are worth trying if you already do not own a Samsung Galaxy S II, but it might not be a great decision to upgrade from S2 to an S3. As far as I am concerned, Samsung Galaxy S III is more of a pick gadget rather than kick.

What is your take on the latest smartphone from Samsung?

Samsung Galaxy S3 vs HTC One X vs iPhone 4S – Which One is The Best For You?

2012 is an year in which three titans of the mobile industry are destined to clash. Apple has been redefining smartphones since it launched the original iPhone in 2007, but 2011’s iPhone 4S was seen as an indication that its products could be stagnating. Meanwhile, Samsung and HTC have been fighting it out with high end Android smartphones, trying to top one another when it comes to hardware and software.

The iPhone 4S, Samsung Galaxy S3 and HTC One X are the three champion devices which want to take the crown, but which is worthy of your money and which two should be left on the shelf, here is our take on that.

Samsung Galaxy S3 vs Apple iPhone 4S vs HTC One X

Comparison: Samsung Galaxy S3, iPhone 4S & HTC One X

Both of the Android handsets have a distinct advantage over the iPhone 4S when it comes to processing power. This is because the dual core chip doing the number crunching inside Apple’s device is bound to be outpaced by the quad core CPUs that Samsung and HTC have packed into their latest models.

The One X has the Tegra 3 processor from Nvidia, while the Galaxy S3 will use Samsung`s own Exynos processor, which is clocked at 1.4GHz rather than the 1.5GHz provided on HTC`s phone.

The Android models are also at an advantage when it comes to display technology. While the iPhone 4S’s Retina Display when it first appeared in 2010 was king, it has since been superseded in terms of size and resolution.

The One X features a 4.7 inch display with a 1280×720 resolution and while the Galaxy S3 comes with 4.8 inch super AMOLED HD display with resolution of 1280×720 pixels.

Both the Galaxy S3 and the One X feature version 4.0 – Ice Cream Sandwich – of the Android operating system, although each will operate in its own distinct way thanks to interface adjustments made by their respective manufacturers.

HTC’s Sense 4.0 UI is widely praised as being one of the most customisable, slick and user friendly Android augmentations on the market. Meanwhile Samsung has been catching up quickly with each subsequent launch of its own TouchWiz UI, so the Galaxy S3 is sure not to disappoint.

The iPhone 4S runs iOS 5 and on the surface remains at least aesthetically similar to its predecessors. However, with killer features including Siri, the voice controlled personal assistant service, it easily keeps up with Android 4.0. In addition the wealth of apps available to download to the iPhone is still unrivalled in terms of both quality and quantity.

It is tough to tell an iPhone 4S and its predecessor, the iPhone 4, apart at a glance, which could be used as a criticism. However, the stunning glass and metal design of this phone remains a strong point. The HTC One X has also received praise for its slender, expansive chassis and top notch build quality. Supposed to be available from 29 May, Galaxy S3’s has a minimal and organic design which has some of the features from the other models of Galaxy line, and is sure not to disappoint.

So which of these models will be part of the best mobile phone deals for you? In reality it is down to personal preference, budget and gut instinct. None of these high end mobiles will be a disappointment if you decide one of these today.

Specifications for the Nokia Lumia 900

On the 9th of January 2012, Nokia released the Nokia Lumia 900. This is a flagship of the Finnish handset maker Nokia. Last week, we wrote about this smartphone from Nokia which is an improvement over Nokia Lumia 800 and is bigger, faster and smarter.

Nokia Lumia 900 Specifications

Nokia Lumia 900 has been widely viewed as a move that will set to revive the Nokia smartphones as a brand particularly in the United States where its popularity has been dwindling over time. Once you get this phone, there are quite a number of specifications that you will get enjoy. Below are the detailed specifications of the Nokia Lumia 900:

Network support for the Nokia Lumia 900

In the first place, you will get to enjoy 2G, 3G as well as 4G network coverage. As for the 4G, it allows for the LTE 700 and LTE 400 support, which means that you can get up to 50Mbps download speeds and 25 Mbps for uploads. This is a plus point to have for any mobile phone and by giving this feature in Lumia 900, Nokia wants to makes sure that you completely fall for this smart phone. 😉

One look at the Nokia Lumia 900 and you will realize that it is as stunning as its predecessor, the Lumia 800. Its dimensions are however bigger at 127.8 x 68.5 x 11.5 mm. The volume is 90 cubic centimeters and its weight is 160 grams. This clearly shows that it is thinner though heavier which can be explained by its size.

The Lumia 900’s Display

I have to say, it’s display is impressive. It is AMOLED and the touchscreen is capacitive. It supports up to 16M colors with 480 x 800 pixels. The size of the display at 4.3 inches is one of the most outstanding features. This roughly translates to a pixel density of 217 ppi. The display allows multi-touch. To make sure that the display is strong enough, it has been made with the Corning Gorilla glass as well as Nokia Clear Black display for that crisp image.

Connectivity for the handset

You never have to worry about staying connected when you have the Nokia Lumia 900. First of all, it supports both EDGE and GPRS class 33. It also has HSPDA, HSUPA and well as LTE capabilities. It can access Wi-Fi networks and well as Bluetooth. For the more traditional user, it has got USB connectivity.

The phone’s Camera

When it comes to the camera, it is quite similar to the earlier version, Lumia 800. It has got the standard 8 MP camera with 3264 x 2448 pixels. It utilizes Carl Zeiss optics with an auto-focus feature and sports two LED flashes to make sure you get the best of the photography experience in low light as well. The camera allows for Geo-tagging. With the ability to take 30 frames per second at 720p and Nokia’s video stabilization feature, the videos are quite amazing. There is also a 1.3 MP secondary camera for video call and supports VGA videos at 30 frames per second.

Nokia Lumia 900’s Processor

In the heart of the Nokia Lumia 900 lies a single 1.4 GHz Scorpion CPU. The chipset is Qualcomm APQ8055 Snapdragon. As for the operation system, it uses the Microsoft Windows mobile 7.5 Mango and this is why it can support LTE. The GPU is Adreno 205.

Other features include the accelerometer, gyro, proximity, threaded SMS, MMS, email, push Email, Asissted GPS, Stereo FM radio and a compass. The battery is non-removable and 1830 mAH. It however doesn’t support JAVA.

Blackberry Insurance – Advantages vs Disadvantages

When you hear the word “BlackBerry” today, what comes to mind?  What was not too many years ago associated with a children’s berry hunt, today brings to mind one of the first smart phones of our times.  BlackBerrys carry a certain air and style.  With the models that come out each year, they stay up with the times and bring us some of the best functions and features found today.

Blackberry Phone Insurance - Pros and Cons

So, let’s say you just bought your first, or upgraded to your second, third or more BlackBerry.  Are you set and ready to go? Just about! After the investment you have made in purchasing your new Smartphone, another thing you will want to take a bit of time to consider is getting it insured.  But what are the advantages and disadvantages you might say? We’re here to discuss a few about the blackberry insurance.  As in anything in life, there are pros and cons to each.  Some points are general and apply to all, and then there are other things I’m sure you’ll think of and be able to add.

Also Check Out:

One of the first advantages to be sure, is that if something happens to your phone, it will be replaced and you will get a new one, having had to pay only a fraction of the cost instead of the full cost of the item. Whether your phone is lost, stolen or damaged, you can rest assured and breathe easily knowing that it can and will be replaced.

Another advantage should your BlackBerry get stolen, not only will the phone be replaced but should the one who took it try to make calls and run up your bill, you won’t have to pay for it.

In most cases, taking out insurance will cost you much less than what it would cost you to replace the phone yourself, especially if you have a pretty high priced mobile phone.

One of the first cons, is that you may never have to use the insurance, in which case you may look at it as a waste of money.  If you are a very careful person who never breaks things, never loses or leaves them where they can be stolen, insurance may not seem like a profitable idea for you.

In some situations, some insurance companies may not pay in certain situations and try to pin the blame on you and thus get out of having to replace your phone.

With all that said and done, a key in choosing a good insurance policy is to do your homework, look for the best agencies and see what they have to offer and compare it with other insurance providers. In this way you’ll feel confident of getting the best deal possible.
