A website that challenges you to Do Nothing For 2 Minutes!!

You must have come across many websites which provide you many features like the gigantic Facebook, which helps you connect to people in a more colourful way. We shared with you a website, Audiko on which you can create iPhone ringtones online for free. There are some which allow you to watch Football matches online. There is Digg which allows you to bookmark interesting stuff all around the internet, and the list goes on.

In all the above websites that I mentioned, each of them is unique in its own way in terms of the features and utilities they provide. Now, I am going to tell you about a website which offers none of these features, rather takes you back some ages and challenges to Do Nothing for 2 Minutes.

PopJam CEO Alex Tew, the guy behind the internet phenomenon Million Dollar Homepage, along with developer Ben Dowling, has created Do Nothing For 2 Minutes, a site whose purpose is pretty self-explanatory in its name. It’s sounds a bit weird but interesting and unique website.

Alex Tew explained his inspiration to TechCrunch

I had been thinking how we spend every waking minute of the day with access to an unlimited supply of information, to the point of information overload. i also read somewhere that there is evidence that our brains are being re-wired by the internet, because we get a little dopamine kick every time we check our e-mail or Twitter or Facebook and there’s a new update. So we’re all developing a bit of ADD. which is probably not great in terms of being productive.

So, go to this website, don’t touch your mouse or keyboard during the process, or you will see a FAIL message and have to count down from the beginning. When the countdown is over, you will be greeted with a Well Done message.

Within 8 hours of its launch, it was able to pull 20,000 unique visits and already has more than 27,000 facebook fans who like it.

I tried this challenge and succeeded (not in the first attempt, though :P). Can you sit in front of your computer and not touch your mouse or keyboard for a measly two minutes? It’s actually not as easy as it sounds, especially when you are an internet geek and on top of that, a Blogger. 😉

  1. This is very interesting. I feel relaxed after doing this for 2 minutes. I think this is good for people who are trying to have a peace of mind after a long day of work.
